Brighten Magic Academy held its set of challenges, but it didn't prepare us for the one year as Brighten Elite.

A year has passed since my boyfriends and I made the executive decision to join the Brighten Elite. Not only did our experiences during our year away strengthen our use of magic, it reinforced the bonds in our relationships- both with me as a male and female.

With a more confident attitude and power to go along with it, we're back at Brighten Magic Academy for our final year, but not everyone is pleased with our return. Students are dying, professors are going missing, and someone is out to ensure I stop breathing before I reach graduation ceremony. Not to forget my primary goal: to find the organization that is keeping my loved one imprisoned to lure me into whatever scheme they're hatching.

Being a male showed me a different side of life, and with it came benefits that would help me end the brewing war. With Logan, Nixon, Braxton, Maximus, Kage, and Zane by my side, we will show our hidden enemies what a true Mage Warrior can do.

Will we prevail before we walk the stage of our graduation ceremony? We're about to find out.

"I'm going to be a Mage Warrior when I grow up!"

  "Will you, Jewel?"

I turned to give Father the biggest smile I could. "I will!" I confirmed, putting my hands on my hips for extra emphasis.

Father chuckled and walked over to where I was. "I guess you'll be able to save a lot of people."

"I want to," I admitted and lifted my hands up to him. "But I want a hug first."

His smile made his whole face light up with happiness, causing me to wonder if he was just as happy as I was.

All I wanted to do was grow up faster and become just like Father. Gabriel was going to become a Mage Warrior too, and that made me even more excited to grow faster.

We could save people all over the world as Father did. Then I'd save tons of people and come back and teach others how to save people like Mother.

Father picked me up and I giggled as I wrapped my little arms around his neck, enjoying the warm hug as I squeezed him tightly. "Daddy, can't you stay longer? I missed you."

"I get to stay for two weeks only, Jewel. I have a very important mission soon."

"Very important?" I asked and leaned back to look up at him. "Are you saving the world like Sailor Moon?"

He grinned at me as his red eyes softened.

"Something like that. You see, I have to go on a mission to save a very important woman."

"More important than Mommy?" I asked with a pout. "She's very important, but she's sleeping," I explained.

He couldn't help but laugh at me and I lifted my hands to press them on Father's cheeks. "Mommy's the most important woman everrrrrrr," I sang.

"Yes, she is. Your mother is very important, just as you’re the most important Princess in my life," he assured me. "But this woman is important to someone else. She's a mom and her son misses her very much."

"She's a mom? That means...the little boy doesn't have a mommy right now?" I asked with wide eyes. Father’s smile turned into a frown as he slowly nodded.

"Sadly, he's all alone. His parents were saving people but got trapped. I have to go and save his mom."

  "But...what about his daddy?"

Father shook his head. "His daddy is gone now."

  "Gone..."

"He's up in the sky now."

  "He...won't come back?" I asked.

  "No."

I lowered my head and thought about it. "Daddy?"

  "Yes, Jewel."

"You can go tomorrow and save the boy's mom before it's too late. I don't want him to be lonely and sad. I'd be sad if I lost Mommy and Daddy. Very sad," I whispered and hugged Daddy again.

Father sighed and patted my back soothingly. "Don't be sad, Jewel. I'll try my best to get his mommy back so he's not lonely anymore."

  "Are you going tomorrow?"

"I could, but I’d rather spend some time with all of you."

"But..." I didn't know what I wanted, but I felt sad for the little boy. He was all alone with no parents. "Does the boy have a brother or sister?"

  "No, Jewel."

"So...he really is all alone. Can't I be his friend? I'll bring him cookies. We can watch Sailor Moon and Alice would play with him too. We'd make him not feel lonely."

Father smiled and lifted his hand to stroke my head. "I'm glad we're raising you well," he whispered.

I pouted my lips again, unsure what he was talking about, and he gave me a kiss on the forehead. "What's that for?" I asked, putting my hands on my forehead to keep the kiss from flying away.

"For being so compassionate and strong, Jewel. You'll save many people one day."

"Hmm. I guess? I still want to help the boy."

"I'll ask and see if we can do a sleepover with you, the boy, and Logan. How does that sound?"

"YES! Logan can come too! It would be so much fun. We'll have cookies, and chocolate, and chips, and cupcakes, and cookies! Oh...I think I said cookies? Alice will get us shiny buttons from the neighbor."

"She's not supposed to be taking buttons from the neighbor, Sweetheart."

"Oh." I blinked and grinned. "Uhhhh. I didn't say that. And COOKIES!" I put my hands up and giggled. "He'll be Logan’s and my friend, and we'll grow up together and save people just like Daddy."

"That sounds like a wonderful plan. He'll be happy to hear he'll have someone who wants to be his friend," Father replied.

I grinned and looked up at the sky that was filled with stars. "Daddy?"

  "Yes, Jewel?"

"Is it hard to be a Mage Warrior? Like...aren't you scared of monsters? I don't like monsters." I lowered my head to look at him.

"No, I'm not afraid of monsters. Not anymore. In terms of whether it's hard to be a Mage Warrior...hmm." Father appeared deep in thought for a moment, and I stared at him with anticipation.

"Sometimes it's hard. You have to be brave and strong. It also means a lot of teamwork."

"Teamwork? You work with other Mage Warriors?"

"Yes. We're in a team. Sometimes it's just the two of us. Other times it's a group. It
depends on how many people we have to save," Father explained.

  "Are they your friends?"

"Some of them. It depends on who we have to save."

"Will I get to work with Daddy one day?" I asked in excitement.

"If you work really hard, yes."

"YEAH! I'm gonna work SUPER hard, and I'll save people and fight bad guys and monsters, and... Oh. I have to find my wand! I don't know where it is though," I pointed out.

  "Your Sailor Moon one?"

"Yes. I think Gabriel has it. I'm gonna go bother him now." I wiggled in Father's hold so he would let me down. He just laughed but lowered me back to the ground.

"Why don't we go back inside together. I think Mom is finished making the hot chocolate."

"Did she put marshmallows in mine, Daddy?"

"I think so. She knows it's your favorite," Father replied.

"Did someone say marshmallow hot chocolate for a certain Moon Princess who wants to save the world?" the familiar male voice inquired.

I squealed and turned my head toward the back door to see Gabriel and Mommy. Gabriel chuckled and knelt with his arms open, ready to receive my jumping hug.

I jumped into his arms and he lifted me up with ease, giving me a nice hug. "How's my little sis? Trying to save the world again?"

"Yes! Daddy said I can be a Mage Warrior too and save people, and we can be on the same team as him, and and...uhh...OH! We're gonna make a new friend too," I summarized.

"Really? Guess you won't need your brother's help?"

"I need your help." I pouted with a sad expression and he smiled and patted my head while he held me with his other arm.

"Alright, I'll help you. I'll protect you from any scary monsters," Gabriel vowed.

"I love my brother!" I hugged him tightly before I looked at Mommy.

"Mommy! After I save everyone I'm going to teach people how to save people!"

"Are you? That would mean a lot to many people, Sweetheart."

I nodded and giggled before I looked at the hot chocolate that was in my pink mug. "Hot chocolate time!"

"Want to go inside to drink it?" Mom asked us.

"Hmmm. I don't mind staying out here. It's nice tonight." Gabriel looked up at the sky.

"I want to stay if Gabriel's staying," I mumbled and tried to wiggle out of his hold to get back down. He laughed and let me down, and I ran back to Dad and slipped my hand into his.

"Daddy, come. I want to sit on your lap and drink hot chocolate," I whined.

"Alright, Jewel, I'm coming." Father grinned.

"What about me?" Gabriel pouted his lips and I stopped to look at him.

"Um. Alice will keep you company."

"Alice isn't even here," Gabriel replied.

"Yes, she is. Alice!" I called out.

In seconds, Alice flew from the nearby tree.

I giggled when Gabriel looked surprised, and I lifted my free hand for Alice to land. Her little white body landed on my outstretched arm and she gave us a muffled hoot as she continued to hold whatever was in her mouth.

"Oh, look. A shiny button!" I exclaimed.

Father and Mother looked at each other and sighed. "Alice really has to stop taking from the neighbors," Mother pointed out.

Gabriel laughed again and walked over to take the silver button from her mouth.

"I don't see that stopping anytime soon, but we can dream."

"Hoot Hoot!" Alice flapped her wings and stared at the button in Gabriel's hand.

"Gabriel, make sure you keep it safe for Alice and me," I reminded.

He knew we really liked to collect all of the ones Alice "found" and put them in our special button jar.

"Alright. Let's go sit over at the patio," Gabriel suggested. I watched him and Mother head over to the table and chairs. I looked up at Daddy and smiled.

"I'll be the best Mage Warrior I can be. Just you wait, Daddy."

"I know you will, Jewel, and I'll be super proud of you like I am now," Father whispered.

He leaned down to pick me up once more, and I hugged him again while Alice flew around us.

  "I love you, Daddy."

"And I always will love you, Jewel."

  ~JEWEL~

  "Holy shit, who's that?"

  "Shit, I don't know."

"Well, she's fucking important if she's walking with the headmaster."

"Are you guys stupid?! You don't recognize the uniform?"

  "What?"

"Elite status. We're fucking lucky to see a member in the flesh!"

  "Elite?"

"Students who get chosen early to be Mage Warriors for a year. It's known as 'Perfects' at the girl's school! Now, shh. They're coming this way."

I couldn't help but smile at the multiple whispers from left and right as Meredith and I walked down the packed halls of Brighten Magic Academy.

There could have been a number of reasons why every male in the hallway was staring at us like celebrities walking down the red carpet.

One could have been the fact that they were seeing Meredith for the first time.

Even during our first year here, we'd never gotten the chance to meet the headmaster. The higher up teachers like Ms. Landsford?

Yes, but the actual headmaster of the most popular Magic Academy where males travel far and wide to get into? It was like witnessing a miracle.

It also could have been because I was present and wore my Elite outfit since we'd just returned from yet another unexpected mission.

Even though we'd just come back from a tough expedition that could have killed at least two of us, another problem arose and there was no way I could say no to saving a group of children.

I was currently standing at 6'1 thanks to my 3-inch combat boots that were perfect for kicking ass and running away from crazy experimental monsters who would have loved to eat us for dinner.

My top was a gold sleeveless crop top that reached just beneath my breasts, and I wore dark purple leather leggings with gold zippers.

The outfit showed off my six pack and the hints of magic symbols that ran down the sides of my ribs and peeked out from the waistband of my leggings.

They would fade in a couple of weeks, but they were definitely catching attention with their bright teal appearance that gave the impression they were glowing against my now tanned skin.

Due to our recent mission being in a sunny city where we had to do a lot of investigating outdoors, my pale skin got a lovely tan.

Hopefully, I'd get back to my pale complexion, but I wasn't hating on it. Made me look foreign almost.

What really made everyone realize I was a part of the Bright Elite was the long sleeveless coat I had on. The actual long coat was white with gold pockets and plum purple trimming.

The material alone screamed luxury, and I knew after needing a new one it was in the thousands range to get a one created.

Wasn't like I had a choice in getting a new one. I think my life was more worth it than a coat being used as a bait.

On the back in capital letters was ‘ELITE’ in Plum Purple and gold outlining with ‘STARFIRE’ underneath in gold.

When we'd first gotten them, I had felt it was kind of cheesy to wear an outfit that had our names on it, but after the crazy, intense year we'd experienced, I'd come to realize that this role was a privilege that was earned, and it was our right to walk with pride for being a part of such an organization.
